Coherence‐based automatic power factor correction (APFC) algorithm for power grids

A power factor correction (PFC) plays a major role towards the improvement of systems quality and stability, as well protection control performance. This paper presents novel method for automatic (APFC) based on coherence approach. In this method, original required reactive compensation can be determined using cross-coherence coefficients evaluated between voltage current signals. Beside auto-coherence are useful detecting fault/unbalance conditions in systems. The proposed algorithm prevents PFC process events over-compensation abnormal events. addition, new operating characteristics PFC, coefficient limits, developed. Extensive simulation results included its accuracy feasibility verified. Compared with conventional coherence-based is easy to control, nearer unity obtained, where performance greater than 99.4%. characterized by being simple, fast reliable, it implemented practically. Its sensitivity security controllable via selecting setting values.
